Swiss species composition

The GEE version is a 30 m forest composition map covering Switzerland. It currently includes three main layers:

Layers

Broadleaf fraction

The predicted proportion of total basal area represented by broadleaved trees, ranging from 0 to 1.

Species composition

The predicted basal-area fractions of the 10 main tree-species groups plus one Other class. The 11 fractions sum to 1 for each forest pixel.

Dominant species

The species group with the largest predicted composition fraction in each pixel.

Method

Model

The map was generated using a multimodal deep-learning model combining high-resolution aerial imagery with complementary satellite, structural, climatic and topographic information.
